Francis Alfred Desautels, 91, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Born in Springfield, MA to the late Leo and Blanche Desautels, he grew up in Indian Orchard and made East Longmeadow his home for over 50 years. A man of faith, he was a former parishioner of St. Aloysius/St. Jude Church in Indian Orchard. Francis served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He had a long career with the Baystate Gas Company, retiring in 1994 as chief dispatcher.
An avid gardener throughout his life, Francis took great joy in cultivating his backyard, transforming part of it into a thriving vegetable garden that reflected his love of the outdoors. He also had a passion for travel, especially in his RV, and cherished time spent at the beach. He remained active and self-reliant to the very end, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and perseverance.
Predeceased by his parents, his wife Pamela (Pepin) Desautels, and his brothers, Ernest, Albert, and George, he was the father of 4 children, and leaves many family members and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 12:00pm at St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave., Indian Orchard. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
