Gino Francis Torretti, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023, at JGS Lifecare in Longmeadow, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Ludlow on November 19, 1940, to the late Gino and Ida (Almeida) Torretti, and he remained a dedicated lifelong resident of Ludlow.
Gino was a man of many talents and passions. As the founder and owner of Jolie Hair and Beauty Academy for over 20 years, he left an indelible mark on the cosmetology industry. His commitment to education extended beyond his own academy, as he also shared his expertise by teaching cosmetology at Springfield Technical Community College. Beyond the world of beauty and style, Gino was adept at working with his hands and found joy in carpentry.
A proud member of The Moose Club in Chicopee and Unico, the largest Italian American service organization in the US, Gino valued community and camaraderie. His warm and friendly demeanor made him a cherished presence at the Ludlow Senior Center, where he cultivated lasting friendships over the years. Gino loved cooking, having learned cherished family recipes from his mother and honing his skills during the six years he spent in the Army National Guard. Gino spent cherished summers at his Cape Cod home for over 50 years where he enjoyed fishing and clamming.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 22 years, Michaele (Meunier) Torretti; his children, Kimberly Danio and her husband Peter of Monson and Gregory Torretti and his wife Jen of Greenwich, CT; his brother Dominic Torretti and his wife Deborah of Ludlow; 3 cherished grandchildren, Jenna, Alex, and Jeffrey; his nephews Nicholas and Nathan Torretti of Ludlow, along with other family members and many friends.
