H. Joan (Dominique) Allen, 85, of Indian Orchard MA passed away August 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 17, 1935 in Keene New Hampshire to the late Cyril and Evelyn (Gionet) Dominique. Joan graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1954. She later married her high school sweetheart Bill Allen on October 6, 1956. Joan worked at the family business Snak Time Vending. She later worked as the cashier for Baystate Medical Center for over 17 years and retired at the age of 75.
Joan had a zest for life. She enjoyed all the New England sports teams, especially the PATRIOTS. She was a diehard fan and never missed watching a game. She loved to drive anywhere and was always up for travel with her family. Later her travels included trips with her friends, Christmas Shopping in New York City, Ireland and cruises. Joan’s cousin and best friend Janice preceded her to heaven and will be waiting there for more adventures. She had many wonderful talents which included, making custom jewelry, sewing, cake decorating and knitting. Every family member will always remember her when they hang their knitted Christmas stocking designed especially for them by her.
Besides her parents Joan was preceded by both her brothers James and Richard Dominique. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 64 years William H. Allen III; Daughter, Deborah L. LaFave and her husband, Gary of Brewster MA.; Daughter, Denise M. Moran of DeBary, FL.; Daughter, Donna L. Bliesener and her husband, Amos of Southwick MA.; Grandchildren, Sharon Dargis; Alan Dargis Jr., Sarah Wood and her husband Aaron; Michael LaFave and his wife Danielle, Amber Bradway and her husband Joshua, and Amanda LaFave; as well as 8 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM Saturday September 4th for immediate family and friends at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St. Springfield, MA with a celebration of life luncheon at 11AM at Tony & Penny’s 18 Canterbury Street, Ludlow MA.
