Harold "Bill" Bailey Obituary

Harold (Bill) Bailey passed away gently on Friday April 30, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. He was 87 years old. He was born in Indiana but moved to Massachusetts in 1965. He served in the military as a National Guard member for six years. He was employed as a stone mason at the East Longmeadow Quarry until its closing in 1971. He then went to work at the Joseph Freedman Co. in Springfield as a supervisor. He worked there until his retirement 32 years later. He was a loyal Patriots fan as well as a devoted fan of NASCAR racing. He also loved to go to the casinos where he played the slot machines. Most Sundays would find him in his favorite chair watching whatever sports were in season. He was a kind, fair, generous, and honorable man. He was an extremely hard worker for all his life, both at work and at home. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Marjorie (Wells) Bailey, four children, Elizabeth, John, Steven, and Clara, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a number of nieces and nephews. He also leaves two siblings, Gene and Joanne, both of Indiana. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred and sister, Janet, and his parents, Mary and John.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at a later date. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements. To express online condolences, visit www.nowakfuneral.com.
