Helen S. Belanger, 91, passed away quietly in her sleep Wednesday, July 3, 2025. Born in Wilbraham to the late John and Victoria (Waryas) Sajdak and predeceased by her loving husband, Victor Belanger, she was a lifelong resident of Indian Orchard. She was a faithful, longtime parishioner of St. Aloysius Church and more recently St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
Helen and Victor married in 1955 and spent their lives creating a beautiful, warm and welcoming home for their family. Helen was an accomplished seamstress, meticulously sewing a wide variety of creations for her children and grandchildren, and for her home. Helen was an avid gardener and loved the birds who nested in her birdhouses and drank from her birdbaths. Neighbors would often stop to comment on how beautifully she maintained the gardens that surrounded the home her husband built for their family. As in all aspects of her life, Helen managed the business office of Belanger Masonry with dedication, precision, pride and care.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory her son, Antonio Belanger of Belchertown; 3 daughters, Barbara “Ariel” Belanger of West Palm Beach, FL, Patricia Belanger of Williamsburg, MA and Eileen Gendron and her husband, Ron of Indian Orchard; 6 grandchildren Gregory McCarthy, Bretton McCarthy, Miakara Belanger, Brianna Rosenstein, Victoria Maguire and Kurt Armbruster; 6 great-grandchildren Caenan, Olivia, Mason, Bennett, Holden, and Vivian. Helen’s heart was one of inclusion and warmth. She leaves behind many others, whether connected by blood or by spirit, who were touched by her kindness and generous soul.
Calling Hours for Helen will be on Friday, July 11 from 4pm-6pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Helen’s funeral will be on Saturday, July 12, gathering at the funeral home at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield at 10am and burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
