Helen M. (Carty) Podolski

Helen M. (Carty) Podolski, 96, of Ludlow, died May 28, 2024 at Chicopee Gardens. She was born and raised “on the hill” in Ludlow, where she was a lifelong resident. Helen was born on June 17, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Helena (Costello) Carty. She worked as the Activities Director at the Birch Manor Nursing Home (now Chicopee Gardens) and later for the Dow Jones Company until she retired. She was a proud and long-time member of the First Church of Ludlow where she served as a welcome worker. She was an avid crafter, loved playing card games and board games, and solitaire on the television. She also enjoyed her girls’ trips to the Cape.

Helen was the wife of the late Leo Podolski who died in 1979, and she was the sister of the late Ruth Malandrakis and Suzanne Walker. She is survived by her four children, David Podolski and his wife Lynn of Ludlow, Cheryl Orluk and her husband David of Ludlow, Ann Roberts and her husband Donn of Ludlow and Robin White and her husband Rodney of Palmer, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
