Ida A. (Magiera) Skwisz, 102, of Springfield passed away peacefully in her sleep at home Friday morning, January 12, 2024. Born in Ludlow on Aug. 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Josephine (Miaszik) Magiera.
Ida worked at the former Buxtons in Agawam for 10 years and later as a supervisor at the former Standard Photo of Springfield for 25 years until she retired.
The wife of the late Frank T. Skwisz, she is survived by a son, Ernest Skwisz and Barbara of Springfield, a daughter, Linda Durocher and her husband Bruce of Springfield, as well as four grandchildren, Darlene and her husband Glenn, Diane, Scott and his wife Kristen and Kimberly and her husband Robert, and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Adam, Shawn, Catherine and Andrew.
Calling Hours for Ida will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, Jan. 17, gathering at the funeral home at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 10am, and burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
