Ileana I. (Torres) Melendez, 69, of the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, died at home on Monday, March 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 12, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Carmen (Rosario) Torres.
Ileana was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Manuel M. Melendez, who died on November 4, 2018, as well as her sister, Nellie Baez. She is survived by her two sons, Manuel M. “Manny” Melendez, Jr. and his wife Tara Jablonski Melendez, and Carlos “Chico” Melendez, both of Indian Orchard, one brother, Jose Torres and his wife Lucinda of Indian Orchard, one brother-in-law, Victor Baez of Chicopee, as well as her four grandchildren, Angel Melendez, Kaila Melendez, Emily Melendez and Olivia Melendez and one great-grandchild, Armani Santiago.
Public “walk-thru” Calling Hours for Ileana will be held on Monday, March 29, from 10am – 12noon at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with a Funeral Service to follow in the funeral home (with limited capacity) at 12noon, officiated by Rev. James Ewen. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.
