Irene E. Constantine

Irene E. Constantine , 79, passed away January 13, 2023 at Bay State Medical Center. Irene was born June 24, 1943 in Springfield, MA to Anne (Kosmas) Constantine and George Constantine. She lived most of her life in Wilbraham.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacquleyn Panek and her partner, Michael Walden. She enjoyed singing and dancing including ballet. Irene was quite talented as a painter. She attended Miss Frasier's School of Charm in Longmeadow while, at the same time, she played football in a girls' league. As a young adult she enjoyed the folk music scene hanging out with the likes of Ritchie Havens.

Irene loved animals and riding her horse Duke. After high school Irene enjoyed a lifelong career in both service and sales beginning with managing the Pesky Sarpent Coffee House in Springfield. She loved nothing more than helping people make the right choice whether it was choosing the right house, ordering the perfect meal or buying furniture to make a house a home.

Irene was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to make sure she could provide a good upbringing for her daughter. She was a committed "horse mom" bringing delicious food to horse shows. 

She was an amazing cook. Entertaining at home was a joy of hers and she would do it as often as she could, cooking multi-course meals for friends and family.

Her door was always open and she provided a place to live for those who were in a tight spot.

Irene loved the ocean and would spend as much time as she could at the Cape and anywhere there was a good beach and waves. Though she was afraid to fly, she mustered the courage to take her only flight to go on a cruise in the Carribean.

There will be no funeral or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the animal shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
