Irene A. (Grybosh) Janas, 95, passed away April 5, 2021 at Mission Care in Holyoke. Born in Ludlow on August 1, 1925 to the late Albert and Anna (Prokop) Grybosh, she was a lifelong Ludlow resident. A faithful and devoted parishioner of Christ the King Church in Ludlow, she was a member of its St. Anne Sodality, Daughters of Christ the King and Perpetual Adoration. Irene enjoyed gardening and along with her husband Stanley, founded Berry Knoll Gardens in Ludlow. But by far, her greatest joy was her family.
She leaves her beloved children: Thomas Janas of Ludlow, Constance Rota and her husband Angelo of Holyoke, Elizabeth Micelotta and her husband Richard of Belchertown and Barbara Digangi of Ludlow; a sister, Frances Maziarz of Ludlow; her grandchildren: Lauren, Joseph, Rocco, Kailey and Jake; her great-grandchildren: Abigail, Harrison, Lucia, Evelyn, Matthew, Julian and Colette; her good friend, Anita Bouchard who always provided a constant source of comfort, along with many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Stanley Janas and 2 sisters, Helen Orlik and Mary Luberda. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the former Mt. St. Vincent Care Center, now known as Mission Care for the compassionate care given to Irene.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 assembling at 9:00am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield and proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
