Irene Theberge Obituary

Irene Theberge, age 80, our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, lived in Indian Orchard for over 30 years, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 1st, 2026.  Irene lived a life overflowing with love- love she gave freely, generously, and without hesitation.

Born in Van Buren, Main, on December 8th, 1945, Feast Day of The Immaculate Conception, Irene grew up in a family that shaped her into the strong, hardworking, loving and compassionate woman she became.  She was predeceased by her parents, David and Mary Ouellette, her late husband, Claude Theberge; and her sisters, Theresa Martineau and Jacqueline Guerin.

Irene leaves behind, her daughter, Lisa Wilson, and husband Paul; her son, Wayne Theberge and wife Rita; her sisters, Mable Daigle, Linda Gerlip, and husband Ron Gerlip and Pamela Trank and husband John; her brothers, George and Joseph Ouellette; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Irene adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were her pride, her joy, and her greatest blessing.  Irene's fury cat, Precious was her full-time companion friend.

Irene lived life with enthusiasm, courage and faith.  She loved praying the Holy Rosary that brought her peace, happiness and comfort during life's ups and downs knowing that God was always in charge. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting gifts for loved ones, playing cards, traveling, camping, weekends spent by the beach, fishing, hunting, and dancing. She worked tirelessly her entire life, often juggling multiple jobs.  As a young girl she worked on the family farm planting and harvesting potatoes.  As a teenager, she worked long hot days in the tobacco fields, earning as little as $1.25 an hour, yet she approached every task with determination and pride.  That early experience shaped her into the tireless, dedicated woman she became.

Throughout her adult life, Irene often held multiple jobs at once, always striving to provide for her family.  She worked as a Housekeeper, and held jobs working at Hamilton Standard, Phalon Inc., Belmont Laundry, and K&M Electronics, where she was known for her reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond.  No matter the job, Irene gave her best with humility and grace.

As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that Irene is reunited with her loved ones.  We trust she now rests in the loving arms of her Creator and Heavenly Father, embraced by the maternal love of the Blessed Mother, Mary Most Holy.

Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she shared so freely.  May her memory be a blessing and a guiding light to all who know her.

Sis, we will forever carry you in our hearts.  Until we meet again when we enter through the gates of heaven, in one spirit, in one heart.

Funeral Mass will be held at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 25 Parker St. Indian Orchard, on Sat. Feb. 14th, at 1:30 p.m., in the lower Chapel.
