Jennie Stejna Obituary

Jennie A. Stejna was a beloved great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 105 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, May 11th, 2022. She was married to Theodore "Teddy" Stejna for 52 wonderful years.

Family and friends could always find Jennie at home on Lake Loraine hosting one of her many family cook-outs while listening to her beloved Red Sox, all the while patrolling the beach keeping everyone in line. She loved her sweets, especially ice cream and would often treat her grandchildren after a day at the beach. If she wasn't on her beach, she'd be bargain hunting at local stores, famously never paying full price. She was a regular at all the local church bingo games and always donated to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

In her later years her boundless energy allowed her to continue working part time until her mid 80s.

Her last act was her most impactful. At 103 years old, in the heart of the Covid-19 Pandemic, she contracted the virus and fought back on her deathbed to beat it and survive. She then went 'viral' on the internet after celebrating with a Bud Light. The video clip of her drinking that beer has been viewed millions of times, bringing hope and light across the country when people needed it most. Then, years later in May of 2022, she beat Covid again and tested negative the day before passing away.

She leaves behind her grandson David R. Stejna of Easton, MA and Newport, RI; granddaughter Shelley Rae Gunn of Easton, MA and granddaughter Christina Glann of Haddam, CT. Great-granddaughters Rachelle Paternsoto of Bloomfield, CT and Rhiannon Solomon of East Hampton, CT. Great-grandson Dylan Vachon of Colchester, CT as well as 7 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Stephen P. Stejna, and recently by Richard T. Stejna (May 5th, 2022) and her husband Theodore A. Stejna.
