Joan M. (Szlosek) Coyne, 86, passed away June 10, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow on March 30, 1937 to the late Bronislaw and Mary (Dynak) Szlosek, she was a lifelong Ludlow resident. Joan worked for many years as an import manager for Monsanto. After retiring in 1992, she worked for the former Gauthier Travel in Ludlow and also worked seasonally at the kiosk for Hickory Farms at the Eastfield Mall. She later worked as a receptionist for a local eye doctor until his retirement. She was a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and the Bingo committee. Joan was passionate about needlepointing and belonged to the Pioneer Valley Embroiders Guild of America and The American Needlepoint Guild. Joan enjoyed the Ludlow Senior Center and liked playing computer games on her iPad, and especially enjoyed lunches with friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Angela Ciempa and her husband Gary of Killingworth, CT; her granddaughter Bethany Jacobs and her husband Paul of CT; her great grandchildren Benjamin, Katherine, and Julia, along with close cousins, family members, and many many friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her 1st husband Edward Dombek in 1967 and her 2nd husband Thomas Coyne in 2009.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 5-8pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 assembling at the funeral home at 9am and proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am.
