John C. Bal, 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 21, 2025. Born in Ludlow on April 26, 1957 to the late Walter and Sophie (Gumula) Bal, he was a lifelong Ludlow resident. John’s career as a clinical engineer at Baystate Medical Center spanned 45 years. His work was a source of great pride, and he took immense satisfaction in knowing that his efforts contributed to the well-being of countless patients. Beyond his professional life, John enjoyed being outdoors gardening or fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Jeanne (Avery) Bal; his son, Drake Bal of Ludlow; his brother, Alexander “Skip” Bal and his wife Lynn of Ludlow; his nieces and nephews, Rebecca Mathison, Kimberly Bal, Ashley Chawdury, Hayley Sherrill, Dylan Sherrill, and Kyle Gauthier; his God-son, Kenneth Gauthier III; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Sherrill and her husband Jc; a life-long friend, Cheryl Snyder, along with other extended family members and many friends and colleagues.
