John J. Fitzgerald, 64, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 at the Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ludlow on Aug. 4, 1956, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Enor) Fitzgerald. John had a more than 40 year career as an auto trimmer. He worked for Jim Kahle at Jim’s Auto Trim in Springfield for the past 10 years until his recent retirement. He was a dog lover, a horror movie fanatic, and a lifelong Oakland Raiders fan.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon L. (Rival) Fitzgerald, a son, Ryan Fitzgerald of Springfield, a granddaughter, Kaylee (a.k.a. “Muggles”}, a sister, Janet Fritz and her husband Thomas of South Hadley, a nephew, Tyler Fritz of South Hadley, as well as his beloved dog, Fritzy.
Calling Hours for John will be on Friday, Sept. 4 from 5-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Due to COVID-19, all guests are required to wear masks and distance responsibly.
