John S. Stefano

John S. Stefano, 77, passed away January 19, 2025 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by his loving children. He was born in Springfield on June 3, 1947 to the late George and Irma (Malaguti) Stefano and was a 1965 graduate of Technical High School.  John spent over 64 years as a Springfield resident and although he lived in Chicopee for 10 years, he never travelled far from his little corner of Springfield. He had worked for Coca-Cola for many years and was most recently co-owner of Spirit Shop Liquors. In his younger years, he coached his daughters in basketball. Whether it was enjoying simple, quiet moments or gathering for special occasions, John enjoyed being surrounded by his family and loved ones. A man of simple pleasures, John was a familiar face at some of his favorite local restaurants, including Petros, City Line, and The Tavern in Westfield, where he enjoyed many memorable meals and conversations.

He leaves his children: Michael Stefano of Agawam, Amy Parks and her husband Chad of Narragansett, RI, Melissa Atkin and her husband James of Westfield, Kara Stefano Cuello of Holiday, FL, and Nicole Stefano and her husband Christopher Smith of Agawam; 9 grandchildren: Luke Stefano, Bodhi Parks, Dharma Parks, Eilha Parks, Isabella Reyes, Lilliana Cuello, Sofia Cuello, Victoria Cuello, and Charlotte Smith; along with other extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his son-in-law Pedro Cuello.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 assembling at 10am at the funeral home and proceeding to Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
