Jose A. Saraiva

Jose A. Saraiva, 66, passed away October 8, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Oliveira, Mangualde, Portugal on November 25, 1956, he was the son of Maria (Rodrigues) Saraiva and the late Jose R. Saraiva. Jose grew up in Portugal where he served in the Portuguese military. He immigrated to the United States and was a Ludlow resident for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cheering on his favorite soccer team, Benfica. He specially loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Jose leaves his wife of 34 years, Maria (Gomes) Saraiva; his children, Beto Saraiva of Ludlow, Nicole Saraiva of Ludlow, Filipa Morais and her husband Michael of Ludlow, Marco Saraiva of Wilbraham, and Cristina Giannakopolous and her husband Elias of East Longmeadow; his mother, Maria Saraiva of Portugal; his sisters, Suzanna Ferreira and Amelia Ferreira, both of Portugal; his mother-in-law, Ana Gomes of Ludlow; his brothers-in-law and their spouses, Carlos and Natty Gomes and Luis and Anna Gomes, all of Ludlow, along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 438 Winsor St, Ludlow. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
