Joseph P. Cotton, 66, died Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. Born in Hartford, CT on April 17, 1960, he was the son of the late Fred W. Cotton, Sr. and Annie Mae (Woodson) Cotton Simmons.
Joe worked for many years in the construction field for Lupa Construction of Ludlow, and retired as the Head of Maintenance at Early Childhood Education Center. He was a member of the Kingdom Minded International Ministries of Springfield, MA.
In addition to his parents, he was also pre-deceased by his step-father, Frank Simmons, Jr. , two brothers, Fred W. Cotton, Jr. and Joe Willie Cotton and his sister, Glensie Gasque. He is survived by a son, Joseph Jackson, two daughters, Shumira Jackson and Sierra Cotton, five sisters, Lucinda Cotton Pegues, Rosemary Cotton Rice, Jacqueline Simmons Killins, Annette Simmons and Aretha Simmons, two aunts, Idelia Joiner of Hartford, CT and Rosie Pinkney of Bloomfield, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Phillip Anthony Jennings, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Calling Hour will be held for Joe on Monday, June 29, from 10am – 11am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11am (ACCESS LIVE-STREAMING HERE), and burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield.
