Josephine C. (Casey) Muska

Josephine C. (Casey) Muska, 95, passed away February 26, 2020 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Storrs. Josephine was born and raised in New York, NY on July 15, 1924 to the late Malachy and Sarah (Enright) Casey. After WWII, she married the late Edward T. Muska and moved to Connecticut in 1947, spending many years in Broad Brook and then Enfield. They lived in Kennebunk, Maine for 14 years until moving to Springfield in 2002 where she resided until 2014. She worked as the secretary to the president at DeBell & Richardson and then Springborn Laboratories, retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Church in Enfield. Josephine was very proud of her New York City background and especially of her Irish heritage. She had been an Irish step dancer.

She leaves 2 sons, Edward Muska and his wife Deborah of Stafford Springs, CT and Michael Muska and his partner Evan Sweet of Brooklyn, NY; her daughter-in-law, Donna Muska of Springfield; her grandchildren: Tatiana Michels, Edward Muska, Natalia Hunter, Madeleine Locke, Jennifer Muska, and Marissa Schroeder; 9 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.  Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerald Muska, a brother Malachy Casey and a sister, Mary Miller.

Funeral services for Josephine will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 with a gathering of family and friends at 10:00a.m. at the St. Bernard Church hall, 426 Hazard Ave, Enfield, CT and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Broad Brook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
