Judith C. (Martin) Lyonnais, 83, passed away July 17, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in New Bedford, MA, on December 24, 1939 to the late Joseph and Brazelena (Tavares) Martin. Judith grew up in the New Bedford area and lived in Enfield CT from 1965-2003. She then spent several years in South Carolina before relocating to Indian Orchard in 2021. She was a devoted stay-at-home mother and after raising her children, she returned to work as a bookkeeper for many years. As a child of a carpenter, Judith was taught those skills at an early age. She was handy, hardworking, and could fix or repair just about anything. Many charities benefited from her generosity, she was a giving and kind person. Judith also enjoyed bowling, ceramics, drawing and reading and she was a master of the game, Jax.
She leaves her beloved husband of 59 years, Paul Lyonnais; her son, Garry Lyonnais and his wife Dawn of Ludlow; a brother, Carlton Martin of South Carolina; her grandchildren, Alexis Lyonnais, Jordan Lyonnais, Marissa Kane and her husband Tyler Pereira, Kellie Lyonnais and Megan Lyonnais; a great-grandson, Noah Pereira and other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Brian Lyonnais on August 6, 2021; a brother William Martin and a sister Dolores Martin.
Services for Judith will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, with Calling Hours from 10am-12pm followed by a prayer service at 12pm. A private interment will be at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
