Katy Lanae Meneke

Katy Lanae Meneke, age 27, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Baystate Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts.

She was born February 23, 1998, in Houston, Texas to Laura and Douglas Meneke. She graduated from Belchertown High School in 2016 and went on to graduate from Westfield State in 2020 with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, she worked for DCFS helping to protect children. She then went on to teach special education at the middle and high school levels. Katy had a gift for working with children. 

She had a tremendous love for animals, especially her two cats, Daisy and Louie. Katy enjoyed going tubing and inherited her mother’s love of the ocean. She was beautiful and had a smile that would light up a room. She was witty, funny and had a contagious laugh! She was an old soul and had a heart of gold! Katy had a special light about her, and we were lucky to have had her in our lives!

Katy is survived by her father, Douglas; her mother, Laura; and two brothers, Cody and Daniel (Danny) as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was welcomed into Heaven by her grandparents, Audrey and Ambrose Nowak as well as Janet and Kenneth Meneke. 

Family, friends, and others whose lives Katy touched are invited to the NOWAK FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 15 Ludlow Ave, Indian Orchard, MA 01151, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and most importantly to try and tell stories in which Katy will continue to make us laugh and feel loved! After the service, Katy will be cremated and her final resting place is to be determined.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Dakin Humane Society in Katy’s memory.
