Laureen E. (Dion) Smith, 75, passed away May 13, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Brockton, MA on January 21, 1947, to the late Milton and Natalie (Prunier) Dion. Laureen grew up in Taunton MA and graduated from Taunton High School in 1964. For the past 20 years, she resided in Indian Orchard. She retired from dispatching for 5 Star Logistics, an industry she loved. An avid and voracious reader, she would read 3-5 books a week. She was a sports enthusiast, especially of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Laureen was a compassionate loving person that had a certain magic that radiated to every soul. She was brilliant, sweet, empathic, and resilient. The strongest woman with the tiniest frame. With her enduring love for family, she gave her children everything she possibly could. We lost a great human being, but heaven received an absolute angel.
Laureen will be missed by her beloved children, Steven Amaral of Taunton, Karen Bruce of Taunton, David Amaral of Indian Orchard, her aunt Gail Townsend of Michigan, her brother Larry Dion of Florida, and brother Edward Dion of Norton. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.
“Meme” will be dearly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Julia, Jackie and Zakary and her great-granddaughter Lana. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, John Dion.
A celebration of life will be hosted by her immediate family and will be private.
