Leokadia (Curylo) Halama, 81, passed away February 19, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Poland to Stanislawa Curylo and the late Stefan Curylo. She was married for fifty years to the late Jozef Halama. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church. A hardworking homemaker and dedicated mother, she came to the United States with her family to make a better life.
She enjoyed cooking family meals, making her own pierogi and golabki, baking pies, cakes and cheesecake, tending her garden, decorating her home with flowers and plants, and dressing up to go out for church and dinner. She also liked country drives, stopping at local farms, walking in the country, and shopping for treasures at flea markets. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed beautiful clothes and dresses for herself and her daughter, crotched quilts and knitted. She cherished family traditions, especially at the holidays and was loved and treasured by her family. Leokadia had a heart of gold; she loved telling stories, gave wonderful advice and was helpful to all.
She leaves her beloved children, Steven Halama of Indian Orchard and Mary Tranquilli of Springfield; her mother Stanislawa Curylo and her sisters, Irene and Daunuta, all of Chicago, Illinois.
