Loretta M. (Stepanik) Dawson

Loretta M. (Stepanik) Dawson, 94, died at home in Springfield on February 13, 2025 with family by her side. Born in Springfield on Dec. 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Skop) Szczepanik. She was raised in Agawam and in 1958 settled in Springfield with her husband George Dawson. Loretta worked as a clerk at the former Steigers office.  Loretta loved gardening and possessed an amazing green thumb. She also loved making jewelry and painting.

Loretta is survived by her children, Lynn-Ann Dawson of Springfield and Gary Dawson of Agawam, a sister, Jane Koblynski of Westford, MA, sister-in-law, Sandra Dawson of Chicopee, a lifelong friend, Doreen Retzlaff of Ludlow, as well as other family members, friends, and her beloved cat, Callie. Loretta is predeceased by her husband of 45 years George Dawson and her brothers and sisters, Agnice, Henry, Walter, Richard and Edward Stepanik, Rose Oslinski and Hellen Nedrowski.

Per Loretta’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. There will be a private burial at a later date.
