Lori Ann (Gurecki) Kalish, 68, of Ludlow, passed peacefully on September 28, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA. Lori was born on September 6, 1956, the daughter of Sylvia “Jean” Gurecki and the late James Gurecki. Lori attended Minnechaug Regional High School.
Lori is survived by her life partner, Manny Soares, a son, Jason Kalish and his life partner, Jennifer Sears, two grandchildren, Austin and Jaxson. She is also survived by Manny’s children, Tamara Lynch and Todd Soares and Todd’s children which she treated as her own, as well as her loving sisters, Nancy Kobjack, Kathy Jefts, Roberta Sears and Rebecca Gurecki. She is preceded in death by her brother, James Gurecki, Jr. She leaves behind loving memories etched into the hearts of her many nieces and nephews.
Lori was a charter member of the Unity AC in Ludlow. She loved her pets, her dog Toby and cat Ziggy are going to miss all of her love and affection, but are in the loving care of her life partner Manny.
Lori was a fantastic cook, and her delicious treats will be greatly missed. She would often over-cook and send care package meals to her friends and family. Lori loved the beach, the casino and the Big E. She was the family communicator with her friendly good morning texts and updates that kept family in contact daily. We promise Lori to keep that going. Her concern about wellbeing was always so special to us. We won’t forget that.
Lori worked for many years at Walgreens photo, building up the photo department and connecting with the community with her easy-going smile and infectious laugh. It is there that she met her best friend, Mel Kareta. The family would like to send a special thank you to Mel for always being there for Lori, who never forgot a birthday, joined family gatherings and selflessly spent hours at Lori’s bedside during her final days. We are so grateful to you, Mel, words are not able to express how important your friendship was to Lori.
Per Lori’s request, there will be no memorial services. We welcome you to raise a glass of Keystone and send her your love.
“May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
