Lorraine Calabrese Obituary

Lorraine T. (Poirier) Calabrese, 91, formerly of The Reserve, 741 Parker St., East Longmeadow, died Sunday, August 30, 2020 after a long illness. She was a retired mail room worker from Mass Mutual who loved to travel and garden. She enjoyed being with her family and her close friend, Bobby Garelli of Springfield. Lorraine Calabrese was born in Indian Orchard and lived in Ellington, West Springfield, Springfield, Chicopee and East Longmeadow. She worked at Springfield’s historic Armory Watershops complex where she met her husband of 50 years, Nicholas D. Calabrese, who predeceased her in 1998.

She was a devoted wife and mother to three children:  Joseph J. Calabrese of Wilbraham and Ronald G. Calabrese of Broad Brook. Her daughter, Debra A. McManus of West Springfield predeceased her in 2009. Lorraine leaves two brothers: Raymond J. Poirier of Zephyrhills and Roger O. Poirier of Chicopee as well as two sisters: Patricia A. Kitchen and Linda A. Moore, both of Springfield.  She was predeceased by a brother, Richard D. Poirier of Springfield and a sister, Leona A. Daigle of Boca Raton. Lorraine also leaves 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

A public walk-thru visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 from 9:15-10:15am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, MA and proceeding to Mary, Mother of Hope Church Social Center, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield, MA for a mass at 11:00am.  Those wishing to attend the funeral mass may choose to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15am or meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Guests are required to adhere to state guidelines requiring no contact, social distancing, and wearing face masks.
