Lucy (Stefanowich) Pieczarka

Lucy (Stefanowich) Pieczarka, 60, passed away May 7, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center from complications due to COVID-19. Born in Ludlow on June 20, 1959, she was one of eight children of the late Walter and June (Shaw) Stefanowich. Lucy had a long career working at Indian Orchard Elementary School. She first volunteered as a teacher’s aide. Then, after obtaining her degree, she worked as a paraprofessional with autistic students. She loved caring for children with disabilities. She was very involved in the school’s after school program and also worked with the DARE program.  Most especially, Lucy loved time spent with her family and friends.

She leaves her husband of 37 years, Thomas Pieczarka; her children: David Pieczarka of West Springfield, Lisa Pieczarka of West Springfield, Rose Pieczarka, Thomas Pieczarka of Syracuse, NY and Jamie Pieczarka of Enfield, CT; her grandchildren: Cobain, Ryan, Cheyenne and Gabriel and many other family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses at Baystate Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Lucy and her family.
