Maria B. (Barroso) Afonso

Maria B. (Barroso) Afonso, 87, passed away August 3, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Salto, Montalegre, Portugal on January 13, 1933 to the late Antonio Barroso and Emilia Maria Alves, she immigrated to the United States in 1976, residing in Indian Orchard for 44 years. Maria was an accomplished seamstress. She worked at Milton Bradley and retired from Nixon Co. Most especially, her world revolved around her beloved family, always caring for those she loved.

She leaves her husband of 68 years, Joao; her children, Manuel and his wife Maria Helena, Nuno, and Silvia and her husband Domingos; her grandchildren, Bruno, Vasco, Catarina, and Alex; her siblings, Victoria, Domingos, Celsa, and Fatima; 6 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
