Marie A. (Yelle) LaPierre, 84, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on January 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Lena (Lavigne) Yelle. Marie grew up in Indian Orchard and was a lifelong Springfield resident. She worked as a lunch room clerk at the Friendly’s plant in Wilbraham until she retired in 1996. Marie was a former communicant of St. Aloysius Church in Indian Orchard and most recently a faithful parishoner of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Ludlow where she was a volunteer. She was a past president of the Indian Orchard Citizens Council and had also served on its Personal & Grievance Committee. Marie was a caregiver for many family members, always there to help when needed. She lived for faith and family to the very end.
She was the wife of the late Francis L. LaPierre and sister of the late Alfred Yelle, Jr., Norman Yelle and Lorraine Gelinas.
Marie “Memere” is survived by her five children, Francis LaPierre and his wife Marie of Ludlow, Judith Allen and her husband Leonard, Jr. of Springfield, James LaPierre and his wife Jacqueline of Ludlow, Wayne LaPierre and his wife Donna of Southampton and Nancy Robillard of Chicopee, a sister, Claire Jagadowski of Holyoke, as well as 11 beloved grandchildren, who were all her favorite: Lisa, L.J., Diana, Michael, Kevin, Samantha, Danielle, Monique, Joseph, Jacob and Timothy; 12 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Rylie, Briana, Hayley, Ryan, Grayson, Vincent, Dominic, Kilian, Danyelle, Eris and Kaylee and countless nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Marie will be on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 assembling at 8am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 191 Hubbard St., Ludlow at 9am, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Calling Hours will be at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 from 4-7pm.
