Marilyn M. (LaBarre) McBride, 87, passed away July 9, 2021 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Marilyn was born August 31, 1933 to the late Theodore and Mabel (Girard) LaBarre. Marilyn married her beloved husband, Richard A. McBride in 1953 and their loving and committed marriage lasted for 68 years until his passing on January 4, 2021.
In her early years of marriage, Marilyn worked for the telephone company and then devoted herself to caring for her home, children and family. She bred and groomed dogs and had also worked in group homes teaching clients life skills to live independently.
Marilyn loved to travel in the US and abroad with Richard. She loved people and was an adventurous woman who first jet skied and horseback rode in her late 70’s. She loved court tv, Colombo, reading mystery books. She knitted, crocheted and sewed lovely creations. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What grandmother catches frogs, slides down water slides, is a constant listening and supportive ear for her grandchildren and is in constant contact with them? Marilyn.
Marilyn was deeply saddened by the passing of two of her children: Susan Anne McBride Boutin in 2005 and Richard A McBride Jr in 2007. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary E. McBride Majkut and her husband, John J. Majkut of Orleans, MA and Beth Ann McBride Ryan and her husband Allan Ryan of Chicopee, MA; 5 grandchildren: Robert C. Majkut and his wife Holly, Matthew Majkut and his wife Dawn, Kristina Boutin, Eric Boutin and his wife Jane, Ann Marie Boutin and two great grandchildren, Maisie and Jonas Majkut.
Joint funeral services for Marilyn and Richard will be held on Saturday, August 28 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am at Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Road, Springfield followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. A private family gathering will take place after burial. Calling hours will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orleans Senior Center, 150 Rock Harbor Road, Orleans, MA 02653 or Cape Cod Hospital, 27 Park St, Hyannis, MA 02601.
