Marion Louise (Dion) Corkins, 65, passed away at home on August 29, 2025. She grew up in Ludlow and was a 1977 graduate of Ludlow High School, before making her home in Springfield for the last 35 years. Marion had a long career as a waitress and dedicated 30 years to The Fort/Student Prince Restaurant, retiring in December 2021. Marion was also an active member of the community, serving as past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 420.
A lover of life and its simple joys, Marion was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and a loyal supporter of the Springfield Thunderbirds. Her passion for the outdoors was evident in her love for the ocean and camping trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine and also Barre, MA, where she found peace and happiness.
She leaves her beloved husband of 32 years, John Corkins; her son Nathan Dion of Port Charlotte, Florida; her step-children, Bruce Corkins and Philip Corkins, both of Springfield and Christine Bronson of Plymouth; a brother Tony Dion of Springfield and a sister Donna Gamble of Chicopee, along with 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Robert Dion.
Funeral services for Marion will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 with Calling Hours from 1-3pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm.
