Marion Rosalie (Derderian) Merigian died on October 3, 2023 at the age of 77. Born in Ludlow on Jan. 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Rose V. (Peligian) Derderian. Marion grew up and spent most of her life in the Orchard. She was a 1963 graduate of the High School of Commerce and received her Associate’s Degree in Commercial Science from American International College in 1965. Marion was an executive secretary to the president at Springfield Institute for Savings for several years. She was the controller for two family businesses: Top of the Hill Restaurant and Verge Street Auto. She retired from Muth Associates as a customer service representative a few years ago.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Kavork “Michael” Merigian as well as her brother, Harry (Margo) Derderian, Jr. of S. Lyons, Michigan, nieces Kristen (David) Shahrigian & Kara (Alec) Sarafian and nephew Armen (Talin) Derderian, as well several grand-nieces & grand-nephews all in Michigan. Marion also leaves many loving cousins and dear, dear neighbors and friends. Last but not least Marion leaves her Dobie, Kool, who brought such joy and happiness into her life.
Marion was a long-time member and active parishioner of St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church and was also a member of the Armenia Relief Society. Funeral Services for Marion will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11. There will be a Calling Hour at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 135 Goodwin St., Springfield from 10am-11am followed by her Funeral Service at the church at 11am and burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services of Springfield is assisting the family with all funeral arrangements.
