Mark George Forgue, 66, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on April 15, 1957, he was a lifelong Springfield resident and was a 1975 graduate of Cathedral High School. At the age of 13, Mark began working for his grandfather’s store, Morin’s Market in Chicopee. After graduating high school, he served honorably in the Marine Corps. In 1978, he began a long career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2017 as a Labor Relations Specialist. Mark was an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan. Most especially, he cherished the times spent with his beloved family.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Denise (Gaudette) Forgue; his sons, Jonathan Forgue and his wife Sheila of Agawam and Matthew Forgue of Springfield; his grandchildren, Evan, Jackson and Cooper Forgue of Agawam and Krystle and Brianna Forgue of NH; his sisters, Pauline Forgue of Southwick, Marguerite “Peggy” Switzer of Chicopee, and Suzanne Harrison and her husband Robert of Southwick and a brother David Forgue and his wife Lissa of Plaistow, NH; and his former sister-in-law, Nancy Higton-Forgue. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Marie Gavin, and 2 brothers-in-law, Cary Switzer and James Gavin.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Prayer Service at 7pm.
