Mark Kenyon Obituary

Mark A. Kenyon, 63, of Springfield, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Arthur R. and Eileen B. (Buckley) Kenyon. Mark was a graduate of the Technical High School in Springfield and then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Westfield State University. Mark served in the Navy and Air Force Reserves for 28 years retiring as a Technical Sergeant after having received numerous service and conduct medals and commendations. While with the Air Force he served as a Load Master and a Jump Master. He worked for 44 years for the U. S. Postal Service. Mark was active in Democratic politics and served as a delegate at the Democratic Convention in 1996. He was also a member of the Hampden V.F.W., and the Italian American Citizens Club. Mark was an avid RED SOX fan, and enjoyed camping.

The father of the late Jason Kenyon who died in 2017, Mark is survived by his wife, Vickie L. Spears, and her children Kasi Valjat and her husband Justin, Kane Kendall and his wife Katie, and their children, Austin and Brody. Mark is also survived by his sisters and brother, Dianne Tougas of Springfield, Donna Hyland and her husband Michael of Vero Beach, FL, Jeffrey Kenyon and his wife Carrie of Springfield, and Alesia Barbaro and her husband Michael of Ludlow, his grandson, Brayden Kenyon Trant, his nieces and nephews and his beloved Australian Shepherd, Fenway.

Calling Hours for Mark will be on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Committal Services with Military Honors will be on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the chapel of the Mass. Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam ( please meet directly at cemetery between 10:30-10:45am). In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mark’s memory may be made to PBS, Public Broadcasting Service, c/o WGBY, 44 Hampden St., Springfield, MA, 01103.
