Mary was born and educated in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Kaczor) Tacik. A talented seamstress, she worked in a custom bridal salon in Toronto and taught High School in St. Catherine’s (Ontario) before moving to the US in 1956. She lived in Bondsville, MA until 1991 and Suffield, CT until 2016.
Mary was hard-working, generous, smart, and resilient. With her husband, Walter, she owned and operated the Bondsville Dairy Bar for over 30 years. After the Bondsville Mill fire in 1968, Mary was instrumental in the development of the Palmer Industrial Park, serving on the Palmer Redevelopment Authority for many years. She enjoyed a later career at Marshalls, working well into her 70s, while loving her role as Babci, caring for her grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Walter in 1991 and daughter, Catherine Daguio in 2006. She will be missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Mascaro and her husband Alan, as well as her grandchildren, Alex Mascaro, Alison Carroll, Brian Mascaro, and Anna Mascaro, and three great-grandsons, Julian, William, and James.
Mary was laid to rest at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
