With heavy hearts, the family of Michael Joseph Rejean Belanger, 66, announces his passing unexpectedly on February 20, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Montreal, Canada on March 10, 1959 to the late Jean-Claude and Lucienne (Archambault) Belanger. A lifelong Springfield resident, he was a graduate of Putnam Vocational High School. Michael served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1979-1983, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 420 in Springfield where he enjoyed spending time and participating in their annual golf tournaments. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Michael was a true sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox, Montreal Canadians, and New England Patriots and enjoyed trying his luck at the casino.
He leaves a daughter, Wendi Linn and her husband Marcus and his grandson Jeremy Linn, all of Hanson, MA; his sisters, Mae Belanger of Springfield and Louise Hughes and her husband James of Hampden; his niece Sara Landon and her husband Jason of Ellington, CT and their children, Dominic Lourenco and Jack Landon, along with many friends.
Committal services with military honors will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 3:00pm at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements. To offer online condolences to the family, please visit www.nowakfuneral.com.
