Raymond H. Colby, III, 80, passed away on December 24, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield on September 11, 1940 to the late Eleanor (Lynch) and Raymond H. Colby Jr.
Ray was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Betty Ann (Forkey). Married on March 28, 1959, they were blessed with 61 years of marriage.
Ray was a fan of the New England Patriots, and he loved spending time with his family and beloved dog Myrtle. His sarcasm and wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a devoted and loving father to Cheryl Snyder and her husband Dean of Springfield, Raymond Colby IV and his wife Tammy of Monson, and Carrie Colby and her husband Thomas of Ludlow.
He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Kenneth Gauthier, Kyle Gauthier, Justin Colby, Angelique Schoorens, Raymond Colby V, and Abigail Sweeney. He also leaves his brothers; William Colby and his wife Ann of Springfield, and James Colby and his wife Barbara of Agawam; 9 great- grandchildren along with many other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dahdul and the staff at Encompass Health, as well as the nurses from Beacon Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
