Rev. Jim Moore Obituary

Rev. Jim D. Moore, also known as Jimmie Dale Moore,  89, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Conway, Massachusetts.

Born on March 1, 1936, in Fayette, Alabama, Jim's life was marked by a deep commitment to faith, community, and creative expression. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Florence State College in Alabama before continuing his theological education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary on the campus of Wake Forest College in North Carolina. These formative years laid the foundation for a lifelong vocation in ministry.

Jim dedicated his career to serving as pastor to five Congregational churches across Western Massachusetts. His pastoral journey included leading congregations at The Norwich Hill Church in Huntington, The United Congregational Church of Conway, The Feeding Hills Congregational Church, the Williamsburg Congregational Church, and the Haydenville Congregational Church. Through decades of service, he offered spiritual guidance and compassionate leadership to countless individuals and families.  Years after his retirement, he continued to express his sincerest gratitude to the members of these churches for their warm welcome, wonderful support and their trust.

Beyond the pulpit, Jim was a man of many passions. A gifted artist, he began sculpting in his youth and later devoted over fifty years to painting. His artwork—primarily landscapes and depictions of nature and wildlife—reflected both his keen eye for beauty and his reverence for the natural world.

Jim also had a strong interest in politics and civic engagement and rallied fervently throughout his life to protect the environment and our democracy.  He followed a wide range of media sources and often contributed thoughtful commentary through letters to the editor and opinion pieces published in local newspapers. His voice added depth and perspective to community discourse.

In addition to his intellectual pursuits, Jim found joy on the golf course. For the past ten years, he was a member at the Links at Worthington, where he enjoyed recreational golfing and camaraderie with fellow members.

Jim spent most of his last 50 years living in Conway, he loved the people, the community and considered it home and a wonderful place to live.

When asked to consider what he would like to have included in his obituary, Jim said “To all those I may have wronged or disappointed in any way, I am so very sorry and hope you will forgive me"

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife Chris Eugin; daughters Sarah Rebekkah Moore and Katie Eugin Moore; and son Spencer Eugin Moore. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Walker Moore.

Jim’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched—as a pastor, an artist, a writer, and a devoted family man. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Per Jim's wishes there will be no funeral service, the family may decide to have a celebration of life gathering in the future.
