Richard Stejna, 82, passed away May 5th, 2022, at Colony Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Abington, MA near his family. He was a proud Army Veteran. A long-standing member of the Marksmen Drum and Bugle Corps, he performed at venues throughout the country including the storied Carnegie Hall. He was an avid hockey fan and attended countless Springfield AHL games. Later he worked as a staff member of USA Hockey chaperoning teams throughout Europe. In his free time, he had a passion for gardening, fishing and spending time at Lake Lorraine, his parent's longtime home.
He leaves behind his son David R. Stejna of Easton, MA and Newport, RI; daughter Shelley Rae Gunn and husband Adam of Easton, MA; and granddaughter Violet Rae Gunn. Richard was predeceased by his brother Stephen P. Stejna and father Theodore A. Stejna. His mother, Jennie (Siarkowicz) Stejna, passed away May 11, 2022.
Combined funeral services for both Richard and Jennie will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022. Visitation will be held from 8:30am -10:30am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00am.
