Robert Howard LaPlante, 62, passed away May 2, 2021 at Heritage Hall West in Agawam. He was born in Ludlow on June 24, 1958 to the late Kenneth and Jean (Holt) LaPlante. Robert worked for many years at Dahlke Moving and Storage in Indian Orchard, Manny's Appliances in Wilbraham, Bernies in Enfield, and he operated his own appliance delivery company for a few years. Rob was also a talented self-employed contractor. He loved building things and was skillful at remodeling and carpentry. A true traveling spirit, he lived in many places throughout his life including Indian Orchard, California, Cape Cod, Vermont, Texas, and Florida to name a few. He spent several years in Palmer and as of 2017 has resided in Springfield. Robert was a free spirit and danced to the beat of his own drum. He enjoyed music, especially classic rock, FOX News, cooking and most especially, his loving family. A real fighter, he survived being run over by an SUV in 2015, which almost took his life.
He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Kenneth LaPlante and wife Carole of Palmer, Christopher LaPlante and life partner Barbara O'Connell of Ludlow, Valerie Roulston of Springfield, Laura Fillion and husband Richard of Agawam, Tanja James and husband Bill of Tucson, AZ, Lila LaPlante and Fiance Michael Riley of Portland, OR and Klinton LaPlante of Catalina, AZ; his wife Marianne (Louvitakis) LaPlante of Granby, his daughter Bobbi Rougeau and her husband Jim of Granby and grandchildren Casey and Cameron Rougeau; and his step-mother Dorly LaPlante of Catalina, AZ; He also leaves a large extended family that includes many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. He was predeceased by brother in-law Michael Roulston in 2015.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
