Robert Motyka Obituary

Robert A. Motyka, 82, of Hallandale Beach, FL died on July 21, 2020. Born on April 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Andrew and Bertha Motyka. Bob grew up in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and graduated from Springfield Trade High School where he was All Western Mass in hockey for four years. He was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame. He served as the hockey coach for the Polish American Veterans for ten years, and had also been a member of Elmcrest Country Club. Bob was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and was a member of the Hollywood Rifle and Pistol Club where he was a champion marksman. He volunteered to host the Special Olympics Quabbin Reservoir Fishing Tournament. Bob worked for many years as Maintenance Supervisor for Beacon Residential Management at Palmer Green Estates.

In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by a son, Michael J. Motyka, a grandson, Robert J. Motyka, Jr and brother-in-law Wallace Goyette. He is survived by his wife, Gail (Truschelli) Motyka, a son, Robert J. Motyka and his wife Linda, sister Loretta Goyette and brother Thaddeus Motyka and his wife Barbara, his grandchildren, Benjamin S. Motyka, Melissa A. Motyka Sikes, Nicholas R. Motyka, Stephanie Motyka, Matthew Henry, Christopher Henry, Heather Fricchione, Bryanne and her brother Erik MacDonald, his great-grandchildren, Addison & Payton Sikes, Samantha & Elsa Henry, Timothy & Margaret Henry, and Keegan & Aaron Gawle and sister Lillian Fricchione, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel & Susanne Truschelli, a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Andrea & Mark MacDonald, and he was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Bob’s family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date to be determined. An additional obituary will run at that time with all service information.
