Robert J. Veratti “The Bopper”, 95, of Springfield entered into eternal rest on November 30, 2024. Born in Springfield on May 17, 1929 he was the son of the late Santi and Elsie (Lunardini) Veratti. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan “Pat” (McQuade Ireland) Veratti and his former wife, Grace (Lamoscolo) Veratti, brother Alfred Veratti and sister Beverly Stevens.
Bob lived all of his life in Springfield. He was a retired Springfield Firefighter, retiring in 1980 after 30 years of dedicated service. Bob was also the past president of the Italian/American Club and a member for many years.
Bob leaves his children: Carol Ann Wisniewski, Dean R. Veratti, with whom he lived and Vincent Veratti, all of Springfield. He also leaves three grandchildren, Robin (Greg) Fedora, Brandon (Lauren) Veratti and Alyna (Zach) Olsen and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Shirley (Gerry) Tabb of NH and brother, Thomas (Kathy) Veratti of East Longmeadow; brother-in-law Joseph and many nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves his step-children, Michael, Patrick, Sean, Judy, and MaryLou and other members of the Ireland family.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 9am-12pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Prayer Service at 12pm in the funeral home.
