Ronald Anthony Ruell, 73, passed away unexpectedly at Baystate Medical Center on October 10, 2024. He was born in Holyoke on October 2, 1951 to the late Jeremiah and Claire (Theroux) Ruell. Ron was raised in Chicopee and attended Precious Blood Grammar School, was a 1969 graduate of Precious Blood High School, and obtained a degree in Architecture from Springfield Technical Community College. Ron found value in hard work. He was an avid antique book collector and seller. He had a knack for turning trash into treasure. He loved passing on his love and knowledge of history to his grandsons. Although he was a private person, Ron was truly dedicated to his family and loved ones.
He leaves his children, Michelle Ruell, Veronica Ruell, and Ronald Ruell, Jr.; his brothers, Thomas Ruell and wife Bernadine and Marc Ruell and wife Donna and a sister Lynn Paul; 11 grandsons, including Jason, Hunter, Jiovanni, Jose, Jr., and Nico with whom he resided; his step-mother Jeanne Ruell and her children, Christine, and James; a half-sister, Lori; 2 great-granddaughters, 3 great-step-grandchildren, along with many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his 1st wife, Laurie (Marino) Ruell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 19, 2024 at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with Calling Hours from 4-6:30pm followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30pm. To offer online condolences to the family, please visit www.nowakfuneral.com.
