Sabina M. (Klamborowski) Garrison, 86, of Ludlow died at her home on Friday morning, April 25, 2025. Born in the small village of Lubaty, Poland on Aug. 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Helen (Zuchowicz) Klamborowski. During WW II, Sabina and her family were deported to Germany for forced labor on the farms. After the war, Sabina and her sister Chris spent four years in refugee camps while their parents were placed in a sanatorium due to contraction of tuberculosis. In 1951 Sabina came to this country with the help of the Popko family. Sabina lived in Brooklyn, NY for a period of years and then moved to this area in 1980. Her working career included time as an office manager for the Columbia University Law School, as a teacher for many years for the Springfield school system and as an owner/operator of Sewing by Blanche, located on Main St. in Indian Orchard. She also had been a member of the Franciscan Order of Nuns, a mendicant order founded by St. Francis of Assisi.
Sabina was a long-time and active member of Immaculate Conception Church, serving in the church choir, and was a member of Mary’s House of Prayer and the Women of Grace. Her church was an integral part of her life. Her example and virtues as a woman of faith made her a role model.
She is survived by her loving husband, James J. Garrison whom she married in 1978. She is also survived by her cousins Helena of Agawam and Agnes Kreps of Canada. She was the sister-in-law of Joan Garrison, John Garrison, William Garrison and his wife Midge, Cathy Tourtillott and Evelyn Hrunka and her husband Joe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and members of the Wurszt and Popko families including Joseph Welcz. Sabina was predeceased by her sister, Christine and Michael Wurszt, as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Anne Garrison, Lorraine Nordquist, Robert Garrison, Frank Garrison, Jr. and his wife Kathleen, and Mark Tourtillott.
Sabina’s family would like to extend their thanks to Irene & Stanley Wurszt for all their care and kindness through the years.
Calling Hours for Sabina will be held on Sunday, April 27, from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield. Her funeral will be on Monday, April 28, gathering at the funeral home at 10am followed by her Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 11am and then burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
