Sharla D. (McCrary) Zamora

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharla Denise Zamora, of Indian Orchard, on December 27, 2024, at the age of 64. Sharla, born on November 18, 1960, in San Diego, California, was the cherished daughter of Leon and Donna McCrary, and beloved mother of Samantha and Rachel Zamora.

In addition to her parents and daughters, she is survived by her brother Rex McCrary, his wife Deb (Peters), and her sister LeAnn McCrary. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Billy” Zamora. Sharla is also lovingly remembered by her extended family, devoted friends and all whose lives she touched.

Sharla loved reading, gardening, cooking, and baking cookies for friends. Throughout her life, she was known for her love for sports, both playing them and watching her favorite teams. When she was younger, softball was her passion, advancing to playing shortstop on a semi-pro women’s team.

An unwavering love for her family, a deep inner strength, and an uncompromising commitment to her friends were hallmarks of her life.  In her teenage years, she would often be tasked with packing the car for family vacations, since she could always make "everything fit just right". In her work, she excelled with a keen sense of how to make the business run more efficiently. Sharla received a heart transplant in 2023 and enjoyed many months of independent living.  In 2024 she courageously fought, with a spirit of determination and optimism, to overcome medical complications. Her family is deeply grateful to the staff of Brigham and Women’s Hospital for their compassionate and remarkable care of Sharla and the family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nowak Funeral Home at 15 Ludlow Ave, Springfield, MA on January 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Guests are encouraged to visit with the family and pay their respects to Sharla from 10:00-11:00 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support the “Heart & Vascular Center Innovation Fund”. Online gifts can be made at https://giving.brighamandwomens.org/give“. We will forever hold Sharla in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed.  As believers in Jesus Christ, our time apart is but temporary, for we will be together once again in heaven, where we will join her in the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
