Shawn Allen Marshall

Shawn Allen Marshall, 44, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2022. Shawn was born in Springfield on March 8, 1978 to Gerald and Noreen (Brown) Marshall. Born with Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy and was given a short life expectancy by his doctors, Shawn proved them wrong time and time again. At only 3 months of age, he survived 3 heart attacks and other challenges throughout his life. With the love and care of his family and friends, Shawn brought love, light, and joy to this world for 44 years, defeating all odds. Despite his disabilities, Shawn was an excellent student, attending East Mountain Center in Westfield in his younger years, receiving a certificate from Central High School, and participated in the Pyramid Program in Springfield. He loved sitting outdoors, especially during rain and even thunderstorms. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, specifically Hulk Hogan, his favorite wrestler.

He leaves his brothers, Randy Marshall of West Springfield and Jarrod Marshall of Ludlow and his sisters Laura Marshall of Indian Orchard, Penny Lamay of Malone, NY and Maryann Monica of Easley, SC; his aunt Gloria Henriques of Sun Lakes, AZ; his nieces and nephews, Zack, Alisha, Brandan, Marissa, Dylan, and Devan Marshall, Travis and Liliane Elliot, and Eugene, Heather, and Katrina Robare and great-nieces and nephews, Zayvien, Zymir, and Kaiden Marshall, Nevaeh Hernandez, and many other family members and friends. His mother, Noreen, passed away 2 days after him. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Marshall.

Funeral services will be held together with his mother Noreen. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 4-7pm and Friday, January 6th from 10-11am. The funeral will be Friday, January 6th at 11am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
