Sheilia Marie Was

Sheilia Marie Was (Washington), 66, passed away August 20, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on July 5, 1957 to Rosemary (Simmons) Washington and the late Samuel Washington. A graduate of Classical High School in Springfield, she studied business administration at American International College, earning a degree in 1982. Sheilia lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 25 years. She had worked for Avis Car Rental but her true vocation was in faith and ministry. She studied with Rhema Bible Training College from 1994-1997 and went on to obtain a doctrine in Christian Ministry at Oral Robert’s College of Theology and Ministry. She had recently moved back to Springfield and worked as a direct care professional at Pathlight. She was a member of Overflowing Love, Church of the Living God in Springfield.

Sheilia leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved mother, Rosemary Washington of Springfield; a brother, Eric Washington of Springfield; an uncle, George Simmons of Germany; an aunt, Eleanor Simmons of Florida; nieces and nephews: Noelani Washington, Darius Washington, Davaris Washington, Ciara Washington, Desmond Washington, Jr., Makailah Washington, Rosemary Washington, Djenne  Washington, and Nastassia Belcher and cousins Annette Sanders, Abby Dodds, and Anton Gilyian. She also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who will miss her. She was predeceased by her father and three brothers: Earl, Gregory, and Desmond Washington.
