Sigmund J. “Ziggy” Dymon, 96, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 at home. Born in Springfield on October 22, 1929, he was one of nine children of the late Thomas and Mary (Majka) Dymon. A lifelong Springfield resident, he was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. Ziggy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Polish American Veterans Club of Wilbraham. He retired in 1996 after 39 dedicated years with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.
In his younger days, Ziggy loved to work alongside his brother in the auto body shop, and was a silk screen artist who created many promotional and political materials. Ziggy was proud of his Polish heritage, was an avid New England sports fan, and enjoyed trying his luck at Bingo and the casino. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
Ziggy is survived by his beloved wife Ann (Mastronardo) Dymon and his children AnnMarie Dymon and Thomas Dymon, all of Springfield, as well as other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Mitchell, Bronislaus, Stanley, John, Edward, and Thaddeus Dymon; his sisters, Stella Cardinal and Angela Dymon and a nephew Joseph Dymon.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 with a Calling Hour from 9:30-10:30am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield and proceeding to Immaculate Conception Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
