Silvino J. Casimiro, 80, passed away August 2, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal on October 16, 1943 to the late Albino and Amelia (Jeronimo) Casimiro, he immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in Indian Orchard. Silvino worked for many years as a machine operator for Ludlow Textiles. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and for being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Mafalda (Gil) Casimiro; his daughters, Elizabeth Calvao and her husband Fernando of Indian Orchard and Susan Casimiro of Springfield; 3 granddaughters, Maryah Colon, Samantha Calvao, and Delores Calvao; his brother Abilio “Bill” Casimiro and his wife Maria of Ludlow and his sister Maria Amelia Eugenio and her husband Jose of Portugal; his brother-in-law, John Gil and sister-in-law Natalie Gil; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 with Visitation from 8:00-9:30am at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard and proceeding to St. Elizabeth Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.
