Stanislaw Wnuk, 75, passed away peacefully at home, with family at his side, on November 10, 2023. Born in Medrzechow, Poland he was the oldest son of the late Henryk and Rozalia (Lichwala) Wnuk. Stan lived an agrarian childhood in Medrzechow, then graduated Technikum Zeglugi Srodladowej (Technical School of Inland Navigation) in Wroclow, Poland as a vessel mechanic. In 1970, he immigrated to the US, settled in Springfield, MA and began a 42-year career at Smith & Wesson. There he rose through the ranks, ultimately heading the tooling department as Cutter Cell Manager. Outside of work, Stan was an avid woodworker, building countless custom pieces including numerous custom kitchen cabinets for friends, neighbors, and family. In 2003, he moved to Ludlow, MA, where he lived the rest of his life. He was a lifelong member of social organizations including Kolo Medrzechowian and the Polish National Alliance.
Stan leaves Kamila (Misiaszek) Wnuk, his wife of 54 years, and three adult children, Joanna Deszcz of Chicago, IL, Arthur Wnuk of Monson and his wife Renee, and Gregory Wnuk of Enfield, CT and his wife Lisa Laskiewicz; his 7 beloved grandchildren, Ewelina, Natalia, and Jakob Deszcz, Jack and Lucy Wnuk, Darren Beltrandi and Tommy Rusk; and a brother, Michal Wnuk of New Britain, CT. He was predeceased by his parents; his 2 brothers, Jan and Edward Wnuk, and his nephew Miroslaw.
The Wnuk Family thanks the staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, especially Dr. David Kwiatkowski, for adding quality years to Stan’s life despite the odds. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Dana Farber Study Program, 450 Brookline Ave., SW120, Boston MA 02215 so more families can benefit from the promising new treatments.
Everyone is welcome to join a commemoration of Stan’s life. Visiting hours will be Friday, November 17, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 assembling at 10:00am at the funeral home and proceeding to Christ the King Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
